Saracen High Fibre-Light Chaff is a 100% natural high fibre blend of alfalfa and soft straw and is a perfect low-calorie chaff for horses and ponies in light work. Saracen High Fibre-Light Chaff can be used as a total or partial forage replacer and is low in sugar and starch so is suitable for good doers and those on a restricted diet or prone to laminitis.
Saracen High Fibre-Light Chaff is molasses free and is made from British grown non-GM alfalfa and straw with a light coating of rapeseed oil. It is dust-extracted and high temperature dried, making Saracen High Fibre-Light Chaff suitable for horses and ponies with respiratory problems. Saracen High Fibre-Light contains no preservatives, colourings, or additives.
Alfalfa provides good quality nutrients, is low in sugar and starch and provides natural antioxidants. Alfalfa is also rich in calcium which supports bone development and hoof quality and provides a natural acid buffer. Quality proteins in alfalfa provide support for topline and condition. Feeding chaff increases chewing time which supports digestive health.
