How To Get The Most Out Of Feeding With Dengie Alfa-A Original

Alfa-A Original can be fed on its own or it can be combined with cubes or a mix for those horses with a higher energy requirement. If you are feeding Alfa-A Original as the sole feed, use a broad-spectrum vitamin and mineral supplement or balancer.

Respiratory Care

The alfalfa in Alfa-A Original is dried at a very high temperature to reduce the risk of mould. Efficient extraction processes ensure Alfa-A Original has a low dust content to promote a healthy respiratory system.

The suggested feeding levels are intended as a guide only. Always adjust your horse's feed ration to suit his temperament, the environmental conditions, his body condition and work load. If your horse is resting why not try one of the Dengie Hi-Fi products

How Hard Are You Working Your Horse?

The amount and kind of work your horse or pony is doing is an important factor when calculating the quantity and type of feed to give

WORK LOAD

EXAMPLE

Convalescence/Resting

Horses on box rest, or turned away.

Light work

Maximum of 1 hour per day hacking, mostly at walk with some trotting and cantering, or 30 minutes of schooling, mostly at the trot with some canter.

Medium work

Schooling, dressage, show-jumping, novice or intermediate 1 day eventing or hunting 1 day per week.

Hard Work

Advanced one day events. 3 day events, hunting 2 days per week, polo and all forms of racing.

NOTE: Horses are individuals and so always adjust your horse's feed ration to suit his temperament and condition as well as his work load.

Dengie are approved under the BETA NOPS scheme which means we are recognized as having taken action to reduce the risk of contamination with substances that contravene the rules of racing and FEI competitions. This is a company scheme and so all Dengie products have to meet this standard.

Dengie Message

Feed Safety & Quality

Ensuring quality, safety and sustainability
Everyone at Dengie is proud of our connection with the land and we are always mindful that we need to grow our crops as sympathetically as possible both for the benefit of our customers and to ensure the future sustainability of what we do. Our farmers are family farmers and they want to ensure there is a viable future for generations to come.

A Commitment to Quality

There are a number of organisations that Dengie are accredited with as part of our commitment to quality:

Feed Assurance Schemes

UFAS and FEMAS are voluntary schemes developed in response to demand for improved feed and food safety. Approval under the schemes provides independent verification that a company is meeting its legal obligations under general feed law.

Dengie are approved under both UFAS and FEMAS as we grow and produce our own raw material.

The schemes are based on HACCP principles, an internationally recognized system of hazard analysis pioneered by space agency NASA. Over recent years HACCP has become a central requirement of Food and Feed safety legislation.

BETA NOPS

In 2009 the British Equestrian Trade Association introduced a code of practice relating to naturally occurring prohibited substances (NOPS). The aim of the code of practice is to identify those manufacturers who demonstrate due diligence in reducing the risk of contamination with NOPS. Due to the nature of some NOPS it is no longer possible to offer a guarantee that a product is free from them. Those companies that do are unlikely to be fully aware of the potential risks of contamination. Dengie are approved under the NOPS scheme. If you require more information about NOPS then please contact us on 01621841188 or send us an e-mail.

Use of GM Materials

No GM raw materials are used in our feeds and so they are suitable for feeding to horses kept on organic holdings or for those supplying muck to organic holdings. If you require a letter or statement to this effect for the Soil Association inspection please contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots.
